The classic chair, known as the Barcelona Chair, was designed by
the famous architect Mies van der Rohe in 1929.
The chair was created to be placed in the
German Pavilion for the International Exposition held in Barcelona, Spain. The chair soon became the recognizable, iconic piece still seen and used in van der Rohe's residential towers on Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, and other modern buildings worldwide. The Barcelona Collection (including the couch, designed in 1930 (the last image)) with its elegant lines looks just as beautiful in a traditional room mixed with different textures and styles as it does in a modern space. I'm sure I could find a place in almost any room for these timeless works of art.
How about you?
